Free Activities

Kidsfest is pleased to offer a wide range of free activities for your students around Olympic Plaza (adjacent to Arts Commons.) There will be storytelling, dance workshops, roving artists, magicians, face painting, creative activities and challenges, and more.

Outdoor Free Zone Hours

Kids of all ages can enjoy outdoor activities during the following hours:
Wednesday & Thursday: 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Friday & Saturday: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM – Open late!!!



Circle Stage
(located centrally on Olympic Plaza)
This year, the Circle Stage will feature regular performances by Calgary’s own Rattle and Strum, a new Canada 150 themed show by Parks Canada as well as special performances by Gustavo the Impossibilist on Friday afternoon and the Bishop Grandin Marching Ghosts on Saturday afternoon.

Medal Stage
(located in the North East part of Olympic Plaza)
What do you wish for Canada? Make a wish or speak your mind! Write or draw your wish and add it to the collective red and white Canada 150 Wishing Wall on Medal Stage.

Water Stage
(located beside the water pool on Olympic Plaza)
The Water Stage features interactive dance workshops including Barn Dancing with Leslie Gotfrit, Bollywood Dance with Sparq Productions, and Woezo Africa Dance with Wunmi Idowu. Kick up your heels and learn something new with our dance experts.

Toddler Zone
Toddlers can play and explore with hula hoops, over sized building blocks, bubble-making, and other hands-on activities for little ones.

Storytelling in the Whale
Join Inuit children’s author and storyteller Michael Kusugak inside the giant whale as he weaves tales about his traditional upbringing in Canada’s North.

Craft and Activity Areas
Stop by our craft and activity tents to add some creativity to your day. Make a flower or colourful insect to add to our Kaleidoscope Garden or design your own lego home and add it to our miniature town with Qualico Kid Builders. You can also make a new friend at the Puppet Creation Tent. On the Civic Plaza in front of City Hall, the giant inflatable maze is back! Get a little lost, and have a lot of fun.
